Round 2! Cars Cars Cars!
This post has by far the worst I ever drove. To some of my favourites, some absolute UGLY ones, to Nanas, and Weapons. Hold on its nearly over...back to regular programming next week.
Im back with round two of my car history. Sorry I know it’s not that interesting to everyone, but it’s one I wanted to get out of my head and down as a memory, and it’s something I love. Who knows you might learn something new about me that you didn’t know last week.
So straight back into it.
1995 Mitsubishi Pajero
I brought this 4WD as I have a passion for 4WD’n and this was my toy to play on the weekends. I refitted a turbo after blowing it the first time, then I drowned it on a trip to Lake Sumner, to end up selling it to a mechanic at work.
2001 Toyota Caldina G - Company Car
My Third company car at Explore more, though I ended up buying this car from the company when it was time to be sold. This was a great car and very reliable.
Moving back to THL when Explore more was amalgamated into the mother ship, I had a few more company cars over the years.
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer - Company Car
This was one very quick car. Super light, and heaps of power from a V6 engine. It just got up and moved. Though I feared having a crash in it as you could hear the wind passing by the door panels it was that hollow!
1979 Holden Statesman HZ
My best mate Scott and his Statesman!
I acquired this Stato(Kate) from my best friend, Scott, he gave me the car as he had had enough of it. I sadly sold this for $500 to a family friend when I was living in Australia, as my parents were sick of having 2 x Statesman’s parked on their front lawn. In Hind site I wish I had kept it as he has now passed on, and it would have been worth a small penny in today’s money, even in a bad condition!
2001 Ford Falcon AU Wagon - Company Car
This was by far the worst car I ever drove. Long ugly, and a Ford! I hate ford with a passion. Being a holden man, for many years. I did like Fords in my earlier years of life, but quickly changed camp when my best friend and Ford Lover admitted to only being friends with me to date my sister! Both packets of shit!
2001 Mazda Atenza - Company Car
My ford was quickly swapped out for probably at the time my most modern company car, it was luxurious, fast, and very economical. I loved this car, even though it was probably made in a ford factory!
2001 Toyota Camry
I brought this car from my parents, after I was paid out of my contract to have a company car. I should have realised this was the writing on the wall for a redundancy looming. I had 6 months and then I ended up trading this old girl in on one of my favourite car types. The mighty Subaru Legacy and 2nd of 3 I have owned.
2003 Subaru Legacy B Sport
I loved this car too. We brought this as we wanted a safe car for our first child to ride in. Sadly this car was written off in a side swipe incident where the 3rd party decided to turn left back into my lane after committing to turn right!
2018 Subaru Legacy GT
Defiantly the fastest car I have ever owned. This car got up and moved on normal power mode, though the flick of a switch you could adjust the boost, and move it into sports mode, where it had a 20% increase in power! Great car!
2016 Nissan Leaf
The newest car I have ever brought, A NZ New import with 4k on the clock! It took me a year to convince my partner to buy this car, and about 6 months for me to convince myself to part with my Subaru legacy. But I quickly figured out I would give my self a pay increase buy reducing my fuel cost, just to go to work from $130 per week, to $10 a week in electricity. $90 in finance for the car, left me with $30 up per week, just by buying a new car! It ran flawlessly for 5 years, no battery degradation, though range was limited to 175km, it was quick, quiet, and really cool, even if it was a little ugly!
2021 Toyota Hilux - Company Car
My current company car. Nice vehicle, though a little small in the cabin for passengers, and kids. great for towing, and super reliable!
So whats next….well probably a Tesla will be my next car, or my own 4WD (probably a cyber truck if it finally gets launched in NZ)
The Wrap
And that’s it for this week!
