Inspiration. Where does it come from?
Inspiration is everywhere, its all around us, it’s just a matter of taping into it and finding what excites you then regurgitate it into your own thoughts and ideas and share the love...
A lot of people have a shed me recently where do I get my inspiration from? How do you get so much done in a day? and OMG, how do you have time for all this stuff you do?
Where does inspiration come from? Well a lot of it comes from everyday interactions, a thought, what I read, what I watch and what I listen to. I consume quite a bit of YouTube, often listening to you tube videos whilst I blog, or surf the net. I listen to Podcasts, normally while i’m exercising, on a walk or just in the car. I take notes a lot, using my second brain(Apple Notes) to record snippets, quotes and anything that strikes a chord. If you’ve never heard about second brain check out an earlier post I wrote on the subject
I have quite an extensive library of quotes, that I like to review from time to time and a lot of posts in my bookmark folders on various social media channels.
Social
For example I follow a number of inspirational people on instagram from Steven Bartlett(a Dragon on Britans Dragons Den), Chris Williamson, Gary V, Steven Mark Ryan, Jocko Willink, Andrew Huberman, to David Goggins! Just to name a few.
Instagram is a great resource, though it is hard to put it down, and stop the doom scrolling. Though in small daily doses I find a lot of my inspiration here. LinkedIn is also another resource I turn to on a less frequent basis, and more for business inspired knowledge.
Family and Friends
A number of my friends send inspirational quotes, snippets, and videos that inspire me to write more and explore new ideas and concepts. This fuels the fire to share more and chase down more information and share what I learn.
Im extremely motivated at the moment as im on a journey of trying to be healthier, write and blog more, exploring options and ideas to grow and create a business. And when I say motivated, i’m flowing a lot between motivation and discipline, and consistency. Im learning 1% is what it takes to be successful. Motivation comes and goes but discipline and consistency is what gets us to where we want to go. That 1% extra step walked, that 1% extra time spent researching, or 1% extra weight on the dumbell, its what it takes to grow and be that much better than everyone else.
My Family inspires me more everyday too, watching little humans grow into big humans is inspiring in itself. They ask questions, say the most darnedest things and inspire me daily to be a better human and grow along side them. I started this journey because of them, wanting to leave behind my legacy and my thoughts, in a digital format so it’s always out there for anyone to read and discover. Most importantly for them to understand who I am, and why I have the thoughts I do.
Inspiration is everywhere, its all around us, it’s just a matter of taping into it and finding what excites you, what drives you, then regurgitate it into your own thoughts and ideas and share the love.
Books
I find a lot of inspiration in books that I read, I have a list im collating of what I want to read. Though, and if i’m honest, I have not been reading a lot lately, and it’s something I want to get back into. I have always loved reading, falling into a book and letting your brain unwind in the book and its concepts, or getting lost in the story and your own imagination. Its a great stress relieving tool, and lets your brain unwind and develop and explore new concepts or if your reading fiction explore new worlds!
X
Lastly X, (previously Twitter ), is quickly becoming one of my favourite resources to learn and to share thoughts and ideas. Not only does X have a great way of filtering out the rubbish in the media, it can be quickly fact checked by anyone using the community notes feature, where anyone can counter an argument, and the mass consensus will decide if its true or not. If you think there’s a lot of bullshit or manipulated data on X, take a look at traditional media. It is dying a rapid death, newspapers, the news, and traditional methods of understanding whats happening in the world are out of touch with reality. Often I have read or seen something on X days before the traditional media reports it. It’s a slow medium and easily manipulated and controlled by those at the top. They control the narrative, and this is becoming more apparent, where on X, you can control what you digest, by liking or following and researching the people you want to follow. Free speech is a key to democracy and a fundamental to a free society. So choosing this medium, enables me to express my views and be inspired by others from around the world on topics important to interested in.
What inspires you on your journey around the sun? Let me know in the comments. I love hearing what other people have to say. If you don’t feel comfortable having a view here, feel free to DM me on any of my social platforms.
Who knows it might become a new blog post.
